The Human Performance and Wellness Program integrates the physical education and health curriculum required for graduation. Collaborating with other core disciplines, the program focuses on improving fitness knowledge and the expansion of kinesthetic learning while promoting sound social and emotional well-being essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle beyond high school. In order to meet graduation requirements, students must take Human Performance I freshman year and Human Performance II sophomore year.  Subject matter includes physiological adaptations, proper bio-mechanics, safety precautions, and injury prevention for lifelong sports performance.  The focus of the Wellness Program is to enhance healthy habits/options/choices for students which will guide them towards making informed choices in their lives, develop positive self-concepts, and promote personal physical, mental, and emotional health.

The Wellness curriculum is skill-based and focuses on making responsible decisions, setting goals, advocating, and practicing healthful behaviors that are based on sound health knowledge and healthful attitudes.  The lessons and activities will guide students towards making healthy choices in their lives, developing positive self-concepts, and promoting personal physical, mental/emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual wellness.  Electives are offered to continue to enhance one’s self-concept and knowledge. Elective courses are Junior Leadership and First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
